Call For Artists:
Starting March 11th until May 13th, Unabashed Apparel is openly accepting original, short story submissions that will inspire the project, The Alchemy Collection. A selection of 3-5 fable, fiction, or fairytale ideas will be chosen. Each chosen story will directly inspire an ensemble & set design for the Alchemy Collection. The Alchemy Awarded Stories will be showcased on Unabashed Apparelʼs online journal, and will be featured as contributing artists for all official media for The Alchemy Collection by Unabashed Apparel. Authors retain all rights to their work and grant Unabashed apparel usage rights for The Alchemy Project.

I am foremost a storyteller. What we put on our bodies is our first form of expression communicating to the world the story we have to tell of who we are, and who we want to be. Clothing is alchemical; it transforms us, it defines us – silently. I am most interested in the duality of apparel and fashion: the crossroads of our daily persona and the quiet narrative of our secret self. I define apparel as what most of us put on everyday, and fashion as a way to realize a dream. The Alchemy Collection, a special collaboration project for Winter 2012, will feature fashion items that express the interplay between our daily selves and a costumed role.
Often fictional stories reveal a vulnerable truth -just as fashion can create a space for us to discover or revel in a role other than our daily selves. I am interested in clothing both you and your myth. They are equally important. We all have a tale, a slip of an idea, a dream, or a haunting; some part of mystery and longing that we aren’t yet living. This drives us forward.
At the end of the day, it is about expressing and connecting. Each Unabashed Apparel photo-shoot is a call for artists to intersect, develop, generate engaging and emotive work, and in totality, weave that Collectionʼs story. Each hand on its page gives it greater life. I am thrilled to seek original stories and new artists to play a roll in this process.
