And apart from all that there was the trust of my sister-in-law-to-be.
She turned me loose on a mess of whatever fabric I wanted, fleurs, tweeds, sewing, and arranging. It isn’t often that a designer gets to have their paws up in everything. She had a custom tweed riding jacket, matching her groom’s vest for the chilly west coast air. And she let me be-ribbon erything with featherweight custom dyed silk hand torn ribbons.
Any designer hand making a custom wedding dress will tell you that the relationship is one of true trust. Which makes the trust Marlana has in me even more incredible, she didn’t see the fabrics until she flew to NC for Christmas and I taped them on the bias across her body and cut away, hand sewing into the night.
…pretty sure Brother didn’t see his vest either because homeskillet crawled out of bed twice with his eyes closed in the middle of the night for fittings before their 6am flight back to the west coast.
I could say more but these beautiful photos of their love say it best:
