When I was small my mother used to whisper: “To whom much is given, much is required.” It has been a life of learning the ins and outs of that hasn’t it? And so:
I do not wish for you ease in all your endeavors, how will you savor success if all you touch falls gently from the fold?
I wish for you dark nights and whipping winds. I wish for the need of faith. For friends more wise than you to offer simple prayers when you most need words and embraces of silence when you most need comfort. I wish for divinity to find you when you are aching from the journey. I wish friends who see you to remain when you are your most cowardly, when you feel small and when you feel beaten. I pray for moments when life rings clear as winter’s dawn and for joy unencumbered by worry. I wish for the tenderness that comes from having been a place -knowing when to reach, and when to hope, and when to let go. I wish for you to need. And the world to meet you. I wish for you to give and the world to thank you. I want you to be seen for your wholeness and loved because you are. May you have faith in your divinity encased inside your humanity. And I wish for the sun to shine on you after all your storms.
Happy 60th Momma.
I receive all your wishes into my heart.
And My Birthday wish, is one which reflects back into the light of your Soul.
May you shine with the pure essence of your Being, and know that above all storms there is only LIGHT.
