He came home for you. That’s what she told me. She came to my home for me too. There is no better fitting gift for my holiday.
We had whiskey and played cards. At home. On a saturday night. I finally felt home too. With my family.
They cooked. Cleaned. Rearranged furniture. Left their things about. My virgo-bits have never been so happy to have things left about. Heart near to bursting with fullness. He invited a friend to come stay. The friend brought his puppy.
I worked. I finished pieces. I recognized one piece was a mean little bugger. So I left it alone. Got to bed on time. Ran errands. Brought home an armful of roses.
Greeted my pal Alexis. Marlana made coffee. She’d swept the house up. She’d done her hair and put on a touch of makeup. And then she put on some pieces I’d made. We took some photographs. It took a few hours. Alexis said, let’s put on something not too sad like Gillian Welch. I snorted. Not too sad.
And then Alexis went home. Left her lens, we ran an errand and dropped it off to her on the front porch.
Brother and Marlana went visiting other friends. I was sad to see them go. I made hot chocolate. I wrapped gifts. I had enough energy to do that. After a photoshoot.
Hearth and Home.
I wear my life like a favorite old dress these days. They’re good days.
