I love our country. Yes I do. I say it every year. On this 4th we went to the farmer’s market, and hosted a little shindig. We normally host a shindig. The 4th of July is my second favorite holiday after Pumpkin Day (previously halloween to me but sans the commercialism and a little more stew, pumpkins, and whiskey).
Look at these beauties:
We had pie. We had friends. We had friends with scrumptious babies including a 4 year old birthday girl who totally sang to the fireworks at the top of her lungs, with her tiara on. Yeah Suzanne Sugarbaker moments. I learned that I will steal sparklers from children.
And then there were the wee key limes. I had to have them. They were tart. They were wee. They were mine.
That pitcher there. JeanQueen made it & glazed it. And I own it and love it like it should be loved. Which is deeply. Every time I see it I smile a satisfied smile. It’s that good to me.
Misty post-shindig mornings.
I hope your 4th was a wonderful as ours.
