On this Friday I’m grateful for:
My grandmothers teaching me about powder. It’s essential to surviving the southern humidity & heat. Trust me. They also probably taught me that we shouldn’t discuss such things in civilized company, but seeing as how the whole country is going through a heat wave let me just say: fine talcum powder -with a cough and eyebrow raising – come on now. Still confused? Email me.
For Health. And Care. And for an opportunity that we can return to what that actually means for all of us. The hard thing about values is paying for them.
For color. Did I say that last week? I’m saying it again. Because I have entered a period where grey has no hold on me. Did you hear me? No hold I tell you!
Buzzing creatures pollinating the garden.
And for their generosity of space when I mightily weeded out the wild rampant violets this Monday. Not one sting – and there were a ton of wee stinging beasties other than the honeybees.
Speaking of stinging creatures: thankful for a Lalique treasure like this:
Gold, diamonds, opal and enamel. Such a genius and master he was.
For the rains so far that have filled my rain barrel.
For small mercies.
For an upcoming vacation. To one of my favorite spots.
And a momma who pays for it 😉
And friends coming along.
And seafood one can trust.
Back to design – I’m grateful for folks who make you think. Eilis Boyle , (a remarkable Irish fashion designer), turned my attention to this man and I’m grateful to anyone who is in fashion design and aware of the problems, challenges and has thoughtful solutions to our endless consumer world:
Colin McDowell. I can’t wait to see the talk.
Speaking of that I’m grateful to this lady and her new book too: Elizabeth Cline & Overdressed The Shockingly High Price of Cheap Fashion
And for support from folks that believe we can teach one another to do better. And the belief & support that I can do that in my business model.
And new thoughtful ideas about the way and whys of how I design.
It’s friday and I’m grateful to a head full of thoughts, design plans & changes percolating, a healthy body, and the road ahead.
Have a good weekend folks.
