I love empty rooms. Empty houses. Jane inadvertently reminded me of this through paintings on her blog today.
What I think I love most isn’t the “potential” of decorating or creating, but rather the clarity. Walls and a roof. Water flowing from the spigot. The sun rising and falling into bare windows and the sun setting every night. The clothes you have on your back. The sound of your voice echoing throughout the rooms. With a loved one.
When there aren’t things what’s important seems so much clearer. I’ve been sucked in by the grabby little hands of the internet & technology recently. I think it’s time to go back to just music to inspire me in the studio and the phone on silent.
A photograph of a woman’s hand cupped with water over a clear river. That’s what I want to offer in my designs. That’s the poetry I want to translate into clothing.
