I have no idea what makes a whole group of people turn at the same time and say, “aha! – we all like red. right now. it’s red. let’s buy all the red everywhere!” … but we do.
This week – it’s the secret garden. I even had it playing while I finished up my f/w11 sewing yesterday.
And yet, secret garden thoughts started with an ancient Victoria magazine article I’ve kept from 1993. And on our dork trip to Ren Faire, there was a whole yard full of handmade wooden mushrooms, and I could just see a damsel asleep in the midst of them. I started thinking about my first experience with photo shoots and styling and inspiration. My godsister and godmother made the most extraordinary costumes and set for a photo-shoot. I was 4 – and got to try on the costumes. Oh my. I can still remember. Susie let me wear the fairy costume for Halloween. My momma insisted I wear tights and a turtleneck because of the cold. I was furious. Everyone knows fairies don’t wear turtlenecks. Seriously.
Some version of all that is playing in my mind for s/s12. And what a year to have a bit of whimsy and magic fill our lives… ah – the f/w11 shoot rush hasn’t even begun (2 days and holding) and my mind is swirling. Better to have too much muse than too little.
Are there any surviving photos from this wee-Sarahbeth-fair-costume photoshoot? If so, I think it’s time to share with the class, no?
… and my “fair” I obviously meant “fairy”
Oh, and best of luck with the current photoshoot!
(and by “my” I obviously meant “by”…)
this movie changed my life! i think i still search for locked doors and ways to open them. thank you for sharing…makes me want to curl up with hot cider today and watch this movie. i have it and love it still…even if it is a VHS 😉
