This morning – Gracia is off to pick up bees. Yes – bees. So I’m up – on way too much coffee and not a lot of sleep. I’m driving on down to the piedmont tonight with a bunch of good lookin’ clothing in a vintage suitcase and a dear and fabulous photographer. Funny how I can’t seem to pack a collection in anything other than a vintage suitcase.
I was up till 1am sewing, not on the line – but on a gossamer shirt. Sometimes you have to steal those moments – for yourself and your art. A minute to sew up something that won’t be sold or sent away. This fabric came in and Joyce nailed it – she called it Ashes of Roses. A gossamer cotton voile – pale pink and grey. I took an hour and made a simple shirt. It’s not perfect, I had a dull needle, but it’s mine. It has a wee vintage button at the back of the neck with a small chip in it. Thank you Roxanne.
Oh to golden mornings and sweltering evenings – we’ll capture that high-summer-down-by-the-river look. I feel it baying and swaying at me – away down east.
I hope your photo shoot is a blast! And I look forward to hearing about your bee keeping adventures! 🙂 Love you!
