I love a good wedding. One of my favorite bits of summer is attending and dancing to lovely couples. I love it all – the flowers, the dresses, the laughter and weepy moments. I love watching the parents of the lovely couple and eating amazing cakes – the whole 9.
I’m glad I ain’t getting hitched because how could I pick:
A season, a dress, a flower, a color, a spot. Nope – I love them all. Weddings are a designer’s dream – you get to coordinate and create an entire event of just plain beauty and love.
So I’ve decided – I’m embarking on a series of dress designs and floral pickeries. Oh yes I am.
The first variation happened by sheer accident:
1st a deargoodfriend gave me a copy of The Buccaneers to watch. Virginia’s wedding dress – wow.
2nd – lightweight off white shirting fabric I’ve been drooling over just hollered at me from across the store.
Stay tuned for The Justice of the Peace Wedding Ensemble
This dress I’m going to actually make – because it’s simple and not necessarily just a nuptial type of deal – as many courthouse wedding outfits are.
When I came home spouting that I had indeed just purchased my wedding dress fabric – everything looked at me sideways – the dog, the sweetie, the peonies. I giggled – you know us southern gals – sometimes we just live to cause a ruckus.
All pictures by the amazingly talented Saipua crew – seriously – when I’m in NY – I’m visiting. Period. Even their scissors are pretty…
